Hi. I'm a design leader and adventure enthusiast with over 12 years of professional experience in UX / Product Design. I love popcorn, animals, sci-fi, and rock climbing. Check out my resume and shoot me an email if you’re interested in working with me.
Here are some reasons I’m good at what I do:
I will uncover and solve the right problem. Theodore Levitt said “People don't want to buy a quarter-inch drill, they want a quarter-inch hole”. Actually, nobody want's a quarter inch hole. There’s a purpose for the hole, like mounting something to the wall, and there’s a purpose for mounting something to the wall, etc etc. The point is, there are probably many ways to make a quarter-inch hole, and the best way to do it always depends on a number of factors. Why is the hole needed in the first place? Is there another way to accomplish that without a hole? What constraints are we working within (limited time? limited resources?). This is where my creativity and curiosity thrive, and where I build close relationships with product managers and engineers to solve problems.
I am an excellent leader and teammate. I really love working with people. I am funny, empathetic, and great at recognizing and bringing out the best in those around me. I want to know what you think. I want to celebrate your wins. I want to build something together that we’re proud of. It’s not important to me that “I” have the right answer, but that we find it together and have fun along the way.
I am comfortable with fear, uncertainty, and failure. I’m not naturally brave. I exercise this trait by placing myself in scary and uncertain situations (mountaineering, climbing, executive stakeholder meetings, etc…). I’ve cried on mountains, climbing walls, and ski slopes. Scaring myself to tears isn’t what makes me resilient - it’s that I get back out there and try again. I approach my work with the same attitude. I challenge myself to step into the unknown, and if things don’t go as planned, I’ll always try again.
